At Velocity Advisory Group, we are often asked why a successful executive should have a coach. The question usually sounds something like this: “I am already doing a great job so why would I need a coach?”

Or here’s another one that we hear even more often: “We can’t afford to get them a coach.  Can’t they read some articles online or take some courses?”

Executive coaching isn’t just for those already in the corner office — it’s for anyone who wants to grow as a leader, whether you’re preparing for your first big promotion, a seasoned executive navigating complex organizational challenges, or anyone in between. Coaching provides the tailored guidance and insights from a third-party perspective that you need to level up professionally (and personally!).

###### **Who can benefit from executive coaching?**

We recommend interviewing at least 2-3 potential coaches to get a sense of whether your personalities are a good fit, if they have the experience you are looking for, align with your professional goals, etc. At Velocity, we work hard to find the coach that is right for you so that you can get the most out of your coaching journey.

###### **Will the coach be doing all the work while I sit back and take notes?**

The answer to that is a hard NO. Come with an open mind, prepared to do the hard work of looking at and improving your blind spots, be willing to see a different perspective, and get ready to think differently — that’s the recipe for a successful coaching experience.
