# The Power of Soft Skills: Essential Capabilities Every Modern Leader Must Build

Technical skills may help employees perform the tasks in their role, but soft skills determine whether they can lead, collaborate, communicate, and adapt — all of which are essential in today’s dynamic workplace. Soft skills include behaviors, habits, and interpersonal traits such as communication, critical thinking, perseverance, and teamwork.

While these skills are harder to measure, organizations increasingly recognize that they are *the* differentiator between adequate performance and exceptional leadership.
